We have been feeding a Swan couple for the last year or so.
They disappeared last month. Last week, one of the swans showed back up. Thought that the more aggressive of the two had been killed as he liked people. Turns out he was the she. Thought the bigger one would be the male.
This am, both showed back up! With 5 surprises…
3 weeks later, June 10th, the 5 Cygnets, the proper name for baby swans, are starting to get swan necks and their feathers are starting to pop. An FYI; an adult male swan is called a Cob and the female mama swan is called a Pen.
A note; we have 3 adults showing up for some snacks now along with the 5 babies. Think that the aggressive swan might have met his fate on Fire Island Ave.
