Another couple weeks watching the family grow. Have observed a change in one of the adults, think the male. He has gotten very aggressive on random days. I have a 18′ skiff with low gunnels so the top rail is 12″ or so from the water. This week, the male actually came over and bit the boat while hissing and lungeing towards me. This was after a good feeding, the rest of the swans were mellow. Not sure what’s going on. Maybe just a bad day…
The signets are growing and starting to turn swan white! Feathers filling in and necks growing long and graceful. The signets play with each other by nibbling on their sibling’s neck.
Above pictures and tale is from yesterday August 14th. This morning, for the first time, just 1 adult and 2 signets. Missing other parent and 2 kids. Wonder if is the nasty one I got into an “argument” with yesterday. Have read that swans besides having great eyesight and hearing , have a great memory. Hope thy are OK.
